Reggaeton
About this style
Reggaeton is a relatively new dance style that was heavily influenced by Panamanian and Puerto Rican cultures. In the 1990s, the style became popular in the United States and then spread all over the world. Reggaeton has its roots in reggae, hip-hop, dancehall, and, of course, Latin American dance. The style involves rhythmic movements of the body, hips, and chest, as well as various types of waves, turns, rotations, and shaking, which makes it rather sexual and passionate.
Nowadays, reggaeton is popular as a means of exercising since the dance involves many quick moves, which makes it a great cardio workout. At the same time, there are many people who do reggaeton professionally and participate in numerous competitions for pro reggaeton dancers.
All in all, the dance style is popular all around the globe, meaning if you want to try it, you will have no trouble finding a dance studio in your area that offers reggaeton classes. But in case you don’t want to look for an offline studio or feel insecure dancing in front of other people, you can always try our online lessons.
