About this style
House is a freestyle street dance that originated in the underground house music scene of the United States, but mostly of Chicago and New York. The dance is rather dynamic and is usually danced to electronic music with heavy bass elements. In terms of the moves, house is known for footwork, jacking, as well as lofting. As a rule, the dance is mostly improvised and contains elaborate footwork, many quick moves, fluid movements of the torso, and often floor work.
Certainly, today, this postmodern dance style is quite popular all over the world and has many admirers in pretty much every country. While house enthusiasts from all around the globe dance just for fun, professionals compete in serious championships, such as House Dance International or Juste Debout, and reach success and recognition in this field.
